WorkshopsOrganizations (businesses, schools or universities) are changing and the way people work is changing too. As work processes evolve workplaces evolve. However, in large part, the current change is driven by the capacity to work "in network" using information and communication technologies. As a result, work evolves from individual to collaborative tasks. OLLI is offering the LearnFirstClass workshop series to help organizations improve their usage of their FirstClass platform, and improve their effectiveness through building internal and cross-company collaborative and learning capabilities.
FirstClass Basic Features: a four-week intensive online workshop that
teaches your institution how to embrace the FirstClass groupware
technology. Create a plan for staff and contacts worldwide. Skip the state
of slow, unsure experimentation and move smoothly into the best that
FirstClass has to offer. Delivered in private sessions to each
organization, and available for institutions around the globe.
Facilitating online: Online discussion groups are essential for successful
online courses. As schools and businesses increasingly offer courses on
the Internet, they will discover the challenge of fostering such dialogue
for learning. Quality courses require skilled discussion facilitation.
This workshop is the adaptation of Facilitating Online Learning by Moving
Out of the Middle to the FirstClass platform.
Design Online Courses: this workshop teaches the pedagogy, methodology,
and facilitation methods necessary for effective instruction in the online
environment. Designing and Teaching Online Courses is a scheduled
asynchronous six-week workshop offered over the Internet in FirstClass-ETC.
Interactive skills in a networked environment: The essence of effective knowledge
management is not getting the right data structures; it is building
healthy communities of practitioners. Aware of this challenge, leading
organizations are investing in groupware and other tools of information
and communications technology (ICT). Their hope is to help large groups
of collaborators focus on a shared vision, even when they are
geographically dispersed and come from a variety of disciplines. But few
organizations are using these tools at more than a fraction of their
capacity. In too many cases, the vision is still shared more easily in
the elevator than on the intranet. This is not because managers and
professionals are too busy... or techno-phobic... or change-resistant. It
is because they need a new set of interactive skills for communicating
effectively in a networked environment. |
