Who we are...

OnLine Learning International (OLLI) is a consulting and web based training company, based in Concord, Massachusetts.

OLLI was built over a decade of research and development of methods and tools. OLLI's international staff has a long history of training, facilitation, and executive coaching working with globally dispersed teams.

OLLI's programs and services are based on a sophisticated model for learning and decision support, developed by OLLI and its parent organization, the Concord Consortium. With major financing from the U.S. Department of Education and National Science Foundation, these principles were initially tested in the demanding arena of science teaching and teacher training, where the basic challenge is for instructors to get out of the way and inspire learning based on real curiosity. CC's research has identified the characteristics of online environments in which knowledge workers collaborate most effectively: those that are scheduled (to provide structure and discipline) but asynchronous (accommodating a variety of schedules and temperaments). They are characterized by curious inquiry, respectful exchange, and synergistic investigation, cultivated through a dialogue process that is iterative in nature. This approach is now being adapted for the needs of fast-paced, information-hungry workplaces where survival demands that employees take charge of their own learning.
